What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone with the following experience, qualifications and /or skillsets:

The successful candidate will need to be flexible, have good organisational and interpersonal skills with an exemplary work ethic, drive, and attention to detail. The position reports to the Head of the High School and Academic Head and works in collaboration with the academic staff.

Commitment to the school’s ethos, values and vision are essential. This position is a full time, permanent position. The successful candidate must be willing to promote and support this foundation.

The ideal candidate will hold the following qualities, and be responsible for the following:

  • Be an appropriately qualified History and Geography teacher, being able to teach FET phase History and junior Geography.
  • Current registration with SACE.
  • Minimum of three years teaching experience with the IEB curriculum (preferred).
  • Qualified to teach Geography and History.
  • Experience with IEB matric marking will be an advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to collaborate and build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Strong organisational and administrative abilities.
  • Energetic, creative, self-driven, and innovative in teaching methods.
  • Professional conduct, punctuality, and high standards in work ethic.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of assessment standards and best practices.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development within the school’s framework

The responsibilities are:

  • Deliver high-quality Geography and History lessons aligned with the IEB curriculum.
  • Plan, set, mark, and evaluate assessments in accordance with relevant standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to ensure consistent and thorough lesson planning.
  • Create an engaging and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation.
  • Prepare and maintain excellent learning resources for students.
  • Participate actively in the High School extramural programme.
  • Teach extra lessons when required to support student progress.
  • Communicate promptly and professionally with parents, colleagues, and school administration (responding to emails and phone messages within 24 hours).
  • Attend and contribute to special school events as directed by the Head of School.

The successful candidate is required to undertake any other reasonable tasks that the Head of the School determines. Whilst every effort has been made to explain the main duties and responsibilities of the post, each individual responsibility undertaken may not be identified. The duties outlined above are not intended as a restrictive list and may be extended or altered to include other tasks that are appropriate with the role.

The successful candidate will start on 01 January 2026.
