BKB is truly dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities, and this commitment extends far beyond just one program. Since 2013, they’ve been at the forefront of a training initiative designed specifically for learners who are hearing-impaired, tapping into their exceptional tactile skills for wool sorting tasks. Collaborating with the Production Management Institute of SA (PMI), BKB crafted a unique curriculum that combines technical know-how with essential soft skills and entrepreneurship training. Thanks to this effort, hearing-impaired employees have stepped into roles as skilled sorters and even forklift operators in the wool warehouse.

From 2022 to 2023, BKB successfully placed 73 disabled learners in structured learnership programs, contributing to a larger initiative that saw a total of 267 learner placements. This reinforces BKB’s position as a leader in fostering a disability-inclusive workforce.
