Eskom YES Programme 2025: Apply for 30 Youth Jobs at Duvha Power Station

Alright, real talk—youth unemployment in South Africa? Still a total nightmare in 2025. It’s not like anyone woke up and fixed it overnight. So, Eskom (yeah, the electricity folks, the ones you blame when the lights go out) actually decided to double down on their YES Programme. Honestly, it’s one of the few things they’re getting right lately.

So, what’s the deal with this YES thing? Basically, it’s a lifeline for young people—especially those stuck in that awkward limbo: you’ve got your matric or maybe even a degree, but nobody wants to hire you because you don’t have “experience.” Classic. The YES Programme teams up with the government and a bunch of big names in business to give these young adults a shot—a real job, not just making coffee or running errands.

Fast-forward to 2025, and Eskom has leveled up. They’re not just stuffing a handful of kids into the back office. Now, hundreds of young people are scattered all over—generation, transmission, distribution, you name it. Some are even braving customer service (talk about trial by fire).

The best part? It’s not just some dead-end gig. They give you a whole year of actual work—12 months alongside pros who know their stuff. You get to see how the sausage is made at one of Africa’s biggest powerhouses (pun absolutely intended). There’s solid mentoring, a ton of hands-on learning, and you actually build skills that matter—both techy and not-so-techy stuff.

And hey, it’s not all “thanks for your service, goodbye!” at the end. If you play your cards right, you might land a permanent spot at Eskom, or at least leave with enough experience to finally get your foot in the door somewhere else. It’s like a skills bootcamp and career launchpad rolled into one—minus the cheesy motivational posters.

Eskom invites young, unemployed South Africans to apply for the Youth Employment Service (YES) initiative at Duvha Power Station under the 2025 intake.
