Job Description:

We require a diligent and experienced Plant Operator & General Worker to join Sylvania Metals. The role will be working on various plant equipment, routine maintenance, assisting production, and general daily chores. The ideal candidate should have a strong work ethic, proactive attitude, and quality and safety approach.

1. Plant Operator
Major tasks of the job:
• The incumbent will be responsible for assisting his/her team to produce quality products and achieve set targets.
• Ensure adherence to the company’s Health and Safety Standards.
• Ensure proper housekeeping of the plant.
• Report defective machinery.
• Closely monitor and control the plant operations within their area of responsibility to ensure optimum performance.
• Identify potential/actual problems and take corrective actions to eliminate it.
• Continuous improvement of plant performance.
• Effective handover of shifts.
Knowledge/Education Requirement:
• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Tertiary qualification will be an added advantage.
• Workable knowledge of the platinum processes.
Experience and performance requirements:
• Preferably 2 years’ PGM flotation and Chrome recovery plant experience.
• Good administration and housekeeping skills are essential.
Other Requirements:
• Stay in close proximity to Lannex Plant or be prepared to relocate.
• Prepared to work shifts.
• Prepared to work overtime when necessary.

2. Job Title: Fixed Term General Worker

Location: Lannex Operations
Contract Duration: 3 Months
Reports to: Operations Supervisor

Key Responsibilities:
Daily operations support: Help in various operational processes and activities at the Lannex factory to ensure efficient operation.

Material Handling: Help in moving, loading, and offloading material and equipment according to safety and operational protocols.

Cleaning and Maintenance: Frequent cleaning of work areas, equipment, and tools. Ensure proper working conditions of all equipment and report any defects or maintenance needs.

Stock Management: Assist in managing stock levels, making sure materials are ready for production processes.

Safety Compliance: Comply with all safety protocols and regulations, actively contributing towards a safe working environment. This includes wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Ad-hoc tasks: Perform other general labor tasks as and when required to support the team and operations.

Qualifications and Skills:
Minimum Qualification: Grade 12 (Matric) or similar.

Experience: General labor or operations support experience from a role in the mining or manufacturing industry is advantageous but not essential.

Physical Fitness: The job constitutes physical work, for example, lifting and shifting materials, thus physical stamina is essential.

Team Player: Ability to work together as a team and support across departments on a needs basis.

Attention to Detail: Unblemished attention to detail and dedication towards quality and safety standards to get tasks done well and efficiently.

Positive Attitude: Good work ethics and willingness to learn new activities and overcome challenges.
